A Holiday Message from the Mayor Spencer

As Mayor of the Village of East Canton, I want to extend my warmest wishes to all our residents and the many friends who will be visiting our community this holiday weekend!

As I sat down to write this message, three words came to mind: Safety, Neighbors, and Responsibility.

First and foremost—safety. If you plan to enjoy fireworks, please do so with caution. Remember, fireworks are still explosives and can cause serious harm or damage if not handled properly. Let’s keep everyone safe while celebrating.

This weekend is also a great time to show appreciation for our neighbors. If you’re hosting a gathering, consider inviting those around you—especially our elderly residents—so no one feels left out of the fun.

And finally, let’s celebrate responsibly. Be mindful of when and where you’re setting off fireworks. Many pets and some of our neighbors can be sensitive to loud noises. If you have fireworks planned, a quick heads-up to nearby pet owners can go a long way.

A reminder that Village Offices will be closed today so our dedicated staff can enjoy the holiday with their families. But as always, our Police Department will be on patrol, keeping our community safe and secure.

Let’s make this a weekend to remember—filled with joy, togetherness, and hometown pride. Stay safe, be kind, and enjoy your time with family and friends.

Happy Independence Day, East Canton!
